Why This Matters

Dignity in Worship Begins with Clean Water

In many underserved communities across Pakistan, the ability to perform daily prayers with dignity is often hindered by a lack of clean, accessible facilities. For many, the mosque is the heart of community life, yet without a reliable source of water for ablution, the spiritual experience is overshadowed by the daily struggle for hygiene. Charity Doings Foundation (CDF) bridges this gap by constructing dedicated wudu khanas (ablution points) within faith spaces across South Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.

Ablution is more than a physical act; it is a spiritual requirement that demands purity and clean water. To date, CDF has successfully constructed over 85 wudu khanas, providing worshippers with safe and dignified spaces to perform their religious duties. By integrating these facilities into the community’s fabric, we ensure that faith and hygiene go hand in hand, allowing individuals to focus on their prayers without the burden of seeking water from distant or contaminated sources.

Facilities built into shared spaces

01

Wudu Khanas at Mosques & Community Centers

Recognizing the importance of water for sanitation and religious practice, CDF has constructed 16 to 28 ablution places (Wudu Khanas) at mosques and community centers.

02

Public Water Coolers

Public water coolers are also installed to provide cool drinking water in shared spaces, where families, travellers and workers gather.

03

Integrated with Water Access Points

82 ablution facilities (Wuzhu Khana) have been installed integrated with water access points. The final site-by-site count varies by project phase and community requirement.

04

Water Access for Animals, Too.

Each water plant and well comes with dedicated troughs for livestock, working animals, and wildlife. This One Health design gives stray and wild animals a vital source of water during extreme heat and drought.

Overall Output and Impact

Shared Water! Shared Benfits!

Expected benefits include reduced time and cost spent on water collection, improved household hydration and hygiene practices, stronger resilience during heatwaves and drought periods, and decreased pressure on unsafe or contaminated water sources.

For animal-owning households and communities with stray and working animals, dedicated hydration stations help prevent dehydration, reduce disease risk, and protect livelihoods dependent on livestock.
