One of the many hurdles to the socio-economic development of Pakistan is the vast segment of unemployed population, greatly curbing the GPD growth and national economy. The unemployed population in Pakistan is listed to exceed 46 Million (24.3% of total population), and is projected to increase in a result to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Lack of suitable employment opportunities and education have indeed escalated the conflict, leading to alarming levels of unemployment nationwide, causing high dependency of this population segment on social welfare projects and government aid.

The project basis is the recognition of key marketable skills, and providing suitable prospects of sustainable income in order to utilize those key strengths into an advantage. Under this ideology, diverse projects including but not limited to provision of vendor carts for income through selling street food, provision of vehicles (motorcycle, car, rickshaw etc.) for earning through transportation services and provision of key marketable setups for skilled work like sewing machines, are being implemented with great success, contributing towards the enlightenment and empowerment of the nation.
Sustainable livelihood projects aim for the growth of the society in a way that does not compromise or hinder the growth in any other aspect. Although donation of alms for the poor and needy is a vital component of the Charity Doings profile and will continue to be so, the long term solution lies in empowerment and capacity building, uplifting the socio-economic bottom line to a higher level, thus elevating the GDP per capita of the nation as a whole. As important as economic growth is for the nation, as it directly influences a number of other factors positively, another major benefit is the transformation of the societal values in the nation as a whole. Opportunity opens up the doors to empowerment, and Ba-Ikhtiaari – empowerment – engenders positivity, ultimately uplifting the societal norms and mindset of the nation to create a better future.
